Energy Lock
Ashtang Yog is a dynamic and powerful practice that utilizes the ancient technique of Bandhas to channel life force and unlock the body’s full potential. The Mool Bandh, Uddiyan Bandh, and Jalandhar Bandh serve as powerful tools for sadhakas to enhance their performance of asanas and tap into their internal heat, resulting in a light and energetic body. By mastering these Bandhas, sadhakas can harness their life force and channel it towards Kundalini awakening, achieving heightened states of consciousness and self-awareness. These techniques are crucial for any serious sadhakas looking to fine-tune their practice and unlock new levels of physical and spiritual power. With practice and dedication, mastering these powerful techniques will undoubtedly elevate your yoga practice to new heights.
Mool Bandh, Uddiyan Bandh, and Jalandhar Bandh are three techniques used in yoga and meditation practices to lock certain areas of the body, preventing pran from escaping. Mool Bandh involves tightening the muscles around the anal area, while Uddiyan Bandh involves drawing in the lower abdomen. Both of these techniques help to prevent pran, or internal heat, from escaping the body, which can result in increased energy and focus. Jalandhar Bandh involves tucking the chin into the chest and pressing the tongue to the roof of the mouth, which helps to retain pran in the head and reduce pressure caused by holding the breath. These techniques can be used together or separately to enhance the benefits of yoga and meditation practices, helping individuals to achieve a greater sense of calm, balance, and focus.
Maha Bandha (“the great lock”) combines all the other three bandhas, namely:
Mula Bandha, root lock, contraction of the perineum
Uddiyana bandha, stomach lock, contraction of the abdomen into the rib cage
Jalandhara Bandha, throat lock, tucking the chin close to the chest
